This right here is the single most asked question I face, How long will it take me to lose weight, how long did it take you to lose 75kgs? No one really likes my response its taken me 4yrs on and off to lose 75kgs. It required commitment, consistency and dedication and it still does every single day and it will for the rest of my life. Sounds daunting to most of you reading this I’m sure and in the back of your mind you are probably thinking nope that’s to long not for, me next! that amount of time in it’s self is the main reason people just don’t want to start my kind of weight loss approach. We are on the constant search to be fixed to take that pill or try that program thats going to give us the instant gratification or that look we so desperately desire like yesterday.
Can I ask you honestly how long did it take you to gain weight? Was it an over night thing, did you gain weight over a 12 week period? I’m guessing not so why are we looking for this magical solution to fix us instantly? We are getting larger and more unhealthier yet we have so many programs, pills and diets available to us that aren’t working, Something isn’t working and that something is our approach to weight loss and health, we are looking to be saved or fixed or something else I don’t know but through my experience of being on this same merry go round for almost 20yrs is that the only thing that works is to make sustainable lifestyle changes, better choices, nourish the body and be ready to let go of habits, behaviours and self limiting thoughts that have kept us on this vicious cycle of weight gain and self punishment.
I myself was always looking for a solution, I wasted years of time, loads of money and lost confidence and self esteem in the process of it all. It wasn’t until I got real with myself and acknowledge it took me years to gain so much weight so to lose it It isn’t going to be a few months, I had a whole person of weight to shed and it began to shed once I took full ownership of it, yes it was going to take a while, yes it wasn’t going to be easy but I can speak with all honesty it was far easier then buying into another notion that there was a miracle cure that once again failed me and left me feeling lost and disappointed, what I’ve learnt about myself and my habits in the process is priceless and is something I could never of found any other way and certainly not by following another restrictive diet
I could of traveled the world at least twice with the amount of money I invested to find such a miracle solution and I’m sure you reading this are probably in the same boat, please save your money, actually put that money aside and actually go and see the world, the answers you are searching for actually come from within in you, they come from making better lifestyle choices, changing behaviours and eating well and moving your body it’s really that simple.
So how many years have you been on and off diets, investing time and money to find this miracle diet only to have lost and regained weight over and over? How many more years are you willing to get unhealthier, disappointed and mentally and emotionally exhausted in this quest? I’m guessing it will take you much longer then it would if you started right now to focus on health and making sustainable lifestyle adjustments, the time is going to pass regardless so why not empower yourself find what works for you and your body and enjoy your journey and not be limited to a restrictive diet that is a one size fits all approach, you are an individual your body has different needs to everyone else’s so explore that and acknowledge and follow through with the changes you need to make for yourself.
Anything worth doing will take time xx
